A Feast for My People Project

Every December 24th since 2012 Save Us Now Inc. has been at the DC General Family Shelter and shelters (motels used by the city) along the New York Avenue corridor helping families residing in these shelters. This feeding and clothing program began in 2012 with Christmas toy donations we received from local businesses and churches, and we distributed them at the DC General Family Shelter.

Now, approximately six years later, "A Feast for My People Project" has expanded its donations category to go beyond just toys for Christmas, but winter coats, clothing, personal health care products, and a warm meal. “A Feast for My People Project” emerged from a need to feed and clothe indigent and homeless persons and their families in Washington, DC.

We believe that we have a moral obligation to feed and clothe the hungry and help them in their time of need. Over 20 individuals dedicate their time to help feed more families every year in “A Feast for My People Project.”

Our services are built on the strength of a wonderful volunteer network, which is the backbone of our success, enabling our ability to deliver such a vast array of services on a limited budget. Our volunteers help with a variety of projects, including feeding, cleaning, serving, fundraising, donations as well as administrative support.

This base of caring for individuals is our strongest asset, allowing Save Us Now Inc. to build an invaluable level of trust among some of the hardest to reach and most marginalized of our homeless neighbors. And we have been doing this in our tents on the streets of Washington DC in the elements of winter since 2010.
